Geophysical Surveys
Geophysical surveys that our company performs:
Geoelectrical surveys
- Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) – 1D Imaging. This method is applied for groundwater detection, point stratigraphic mapping and for the design of electrical grounding systems.
- Horizontal Profiling – 1D Imaging. Measurements of the specific ground resistance (ρ) for the production of an equivalent model of the ground’s electrical resistivity for the design of electrical grounding systems.
- 2D Imaging – Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT). Applications for stratigraphic mapping, location of cavities and sinkholes, fracture detection and mapping of the ground beneath the foundations of structures.
Εlectromagnetic surveys
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Electromagnetic pulses emitted to and from the ground recording the stratigraphic characteristics and properties of the medium of propagation. Geological mapping, fracture detection, pavement quality control and detection of UXOs.
Seismic surveys
MASW (Surface Wave Surveys). Multi-channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) provides the shear wave velocity (Vs) distribution in either 1D or 2D formats. The results can be used to estimate soil and rock mechanical characteristics, determine the depth and relief of the bedrock, map subsurface geology, map low velocity layers and aid in liquefaction potential assessment.
